And it's my fault. I accidently spilled a bit of water on the corner of my keyboard (on the Ctrl, Windows and Alt buttons) and I managed to soak up the water, however, in the process, I also pressed the buttons several times. Now my keyboard has some strange shortcuts on the go, for example 'm' = minimize all windows, r = run f = find, and I can't use the those letters as letters anymore. I just need to know what exactly I need to do to get rid of this problem which is driving me crazy.

I've typed this message by cutting and pasting those letters, and it's a long freaking process, believe me. I have a 2500 word essay to turn in tomorrow, and if this is how I have to type it out.........

Your Windows key is shorted out.
It is acting as though it is always being pressed.
The shortcuts that you are witnessing are normal Windows key shortcuts.
Though Windows key + F is usually called "Search" ;)
P.S. you will probably find that the D key will now make your desktop appear, too.

    Solution?
    Replace the keyboard

Are you serious? There's no way it could be anything else?...The D key isn't making my desktop appear, but the rest is still happening. Hmmm. Think I might use someone else's laptop and leave wishful thinking to fix my computer for now. Thanks anyway...grudgingly because you gave me possible bad news =) Taught me not to eat and drink around my workspace anyway.

    Yes I am quite serious.
If this is a laptop you are using you could get a usb keyboard and use that.
Sorry to be there bearer of bad news.

My daughter has had a very similar problem & I've found a workaround, although I'm still looking for a proper solution.

In her case when her desktop loads, she opens "Windows On- Screen keyboard" which can be found in Accessories > Accessibility on XP. She then turns the Ctrl key On & Off, on the On-Screen Keyboard & her laptop keyboard then works, she has to repeat this each time she logs off & on, her Laptop & she dare not have a log on password.
