Laptop LCD display problem

ok so i got my compaq presario v6000 off my friend because there is no picture being displayed on the lcd. So i bought a new lcd because the backlight cable was messed up and i didn't want to just take out the bulb. Put it together and then found out my inverter got broken. so i bought a new one of thoses. put it together and still nothing. At least now the lcd lights up. but there is no picture. IS it the lcd cable? or what else can it be? o and im using it to write this, its just attached to my tv so i know that it still works and i didn't get a totally busted laptop.
