Hi people, I wanted to ask you for some advice about a problem that has been bothering me lately.
The thing is Im using a laptop with a Genius optical mouse connected to the PS2 port, and its giving me a lot of problems.
First of all it many times double or triple clicks instead of a single click, when im writing text it sometimes jumps beetween the lines and many times I just cant copy paste properly because its so sensitive and disappears instantly.
I tried to install the driver I downloaded, but it gave me some problem and didnt install correctly, so I uninstalled it, but the problem persists.
Now, Im pretty sure its not a virus or such, maybe its some driver conflict or maybe the synoptic pad is in conflict with the mouse, I dont know, thats why Im writing here, maybe you can help me identify and solve the problem, because it just driving me mad :p
    Thanks in advance.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but couldn't you borrow one just to test ? There are millions out there ?

Whats with the fixation man? :d I would burrow one if I could, but for certain reasons I cant, do you have any other suggestions? say I tried it and the other one didnt work either, than what?
pd: Ok, to satisfy your curiosity I am currently studying in another country, and nobody here in the accomodation has one -.-
Please does anybody have a clue what can cause this and how to fix this( without replacing the mouse for now :)

Well this may sound silly, but have you gone to control panel and looked at mouse, and made sure your double click speed is around mid? Just checkin...silly, but missable
    Jaza.
PS. Also, Alaskapro's only fixation was trying to help you out, sometimes mice just dont work right. Another mouse would be able to show if its software or hardware problem. You shouldnt snap at those trying to help. he only asked if you were able to borrow one..Yes or no question.
    ;)

Sorry JhonnyB, if I have upset you, but I have no curiosity to satisfy.

If you right-click 'My Computer' then select 'Properties' from the dropdown, click on the 'Hardware' tab then click the 'Device Manager' button, are there any yellow or red icons near the 'mouse and other pointing devices' listing ?

Try getting a new mouse! see if it works. If not, I would suggest a mouse that connects to your usb. Its much more simpler!

Careful, now your sounding fixated too.. I'm sorry I couldnt resist!
    Fixated is what Fixated does!!

I was just joking, but its just funny that you think that I had the option to do it and didnt, just that, thats why I used smilies to clerify that :=)
And its not the double click speed ;)
Isnt there any previous known issues of this conflict in laptops? I remember hearing something like that long time ago, I dunno...
So thanks to all who replied, anyone else might have a clue?
    Thx again ^^!

Right, this could be the problem but it's unlikely.

It could be spyware related - READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support - read this and follow the steps here, if possible.

A lot of mouse problems do occur when using the PS2 connection I've seemed to notice, the majority of manufacturers offer a USB connection which seems to function better.
