    Please attach the log from running MBAM. Also, you did not allow MGTools to run to completion. It is missing most of the logs we need. Please run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). Wait for it to tell you to hit any key.

    Then attach the below logs:

    * MBAM
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    hello, thank you for your response. I can only scan in " safe mode" so files are shorter? What is MBam? When I go into regular screen. my mouse just shows hour glass running, I reboot. still get hour glass in regular boot mode. I am going to have to reinstall, waiting on portable HD.

    The file you need to attach is named C:\MGlogs.zip. It is not named what you are saying and you should not be making your own file. Attach the one requested which is created by MGtools.

    You also need to attach the Malwarebytes log that was requested. MBAM = Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

    Did you remember to click twice on the Accept button license agreement for TrendMicro HijackThis. The log does not appear in your MGlogs.zip file which normally means that this was not done. Use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to navigate to C:\MGtoools\analyse.exe and double click on it to run it. Do you see a license agreement? If yes, you must click the Accept button Twice.

    I did not ask you to upload anything. Basically I asked you what happens when you run the analyse.exe program and said to accept the license agreement if you see one.

    Okay that's good!

    Now please download HelpAsst_mebroot_fix.exe by noahdfear and save it to your Desktop
    • Double click HelpAsst_mebroot_fix.exe to run it and follow any prompts.
      • If the tool detects an mbr infection
        • please allow it to run mbr -f and shutdown your computer.
        • Upon restarting, please wait about 5 minutes after bootup, and then click Start>Run and type the following bolded command, then hit Enter.
          • helpasst -mbrt
        • Make sure you leave a space between helpasst and -mbrt
        • When it completes, a log will open.
        • Attach this log to your next message.
      • If the tool DOES NOT detect an mbr infection and completes running:
        • Click Start>Run and type the following bolded command, then hit Enter.
          • mbr -f
        • Make sure you leave a space between mbr and the -f
        • Now, please do the Start>Run>mbr -f command a second time.
        • Now shut down the computer (do not restart, you must shut it down), wait a few minutes then start it back up.
        • Give it about 5 minutes after the bootup and then click Start>Run and type the following bolded command, then hit Enter.
          • helpasst -mbrt
        • Make sure you leave a space between helpasst and -mbrt
        • When it completes, a log will open.
        • Attach this log to your next message.
    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Let's do this:

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::
    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\temp\9.TMP
    C:\WINDOWS\temp\A.TMP
    C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\My Documents\avgremoverx64.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\My Documents\avgremover.log
    C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\My Documents\avgremover.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\My Documents\avg_avwt_stb_all_9_115_free.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\My Documents\avg_free_stf_en_90_819a2842.exe

    Folder::
    C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\Application Data\AVP 2009
    C:\Program Files\AVGMay4
    C:\AVGTemp

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Seems to be working! thankyou, thankyou. But when I open combofix, I still get the message "AVG 7.5.560 is on, so you should not scan". The MG scan, I didn't have any options "to do a quick scan" or option to delete. I just clicked it on and it ran.
    Thankyou again.

    Most likely because you did not follow the instructions TimW gave you.
    You have to run a new scan. We don't need the same log you previously attached.

    No I did not create those folders. I put the Kill, copy and paste to notepad. Put it into ComboFix. Combofix did not run, left the screen for 2 hrs. Rebooted computer, ran again...and it just sat there for an hour. Any ideas?

    What happened when you tried to attach the new MGLogs.zip? Was there an error message of some kind? Did you run Combo inspite of the warning? Can you attach that as well?

    Most likely not necessary. I would bet that a new log was not obtained because GetLogs.bat was porobably not run as instructed.

    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
