I have a Dell 1545 laptop that's over 3 years old. The battery gave up, and after a couple of years of running it always plugged in, I bought a new non-OEM battery off Amazon.

The battery charges fine, and holds a charge. The quirk - now if I unplug the power cord while I'm using it, it reboots.

Any ideas on making it not do that?

  2. Quick question, when you say reboot, you mean it restarts as in Windows shuts down correctly and restarts itself, or it just powers right off as if no charge then boots up on its own?

    CQ.

Can you start the laptop on battery power alone?
