    Hey guys..

Right..my laptop is running at 100% CPU for the past few days & it's beginning to be more than just an annoyance! I've been trying to get rid of it with all my limited & pathetic knowledge but with no luck. It's an explore.exe process thats taking up all my cpu. Been to a few forums & read through all the "do this 1st before posting etc". Have tried loads of spyware/trojan scans with no obvious success. System restore, safe mode, tried aswell with no results. It takes ages for me to do anything though (took me 30mins just to do thi hijackthis v1 thing..it's that slow). I've made a log below as an attachment & i'd appreciate it if someone could have a look. I have Norton 05 fully updated..no results there & secruity task manager which is picking up some very nasty looking "MSEvents.MSEvents.1 (brower extension)". It's in C:\WINDOWS/cursors/exprun.dll & it's an undeletable file. I'm sure it's changed it's name aswell...it was called wavefront.dll before (i deleted it through secruity task manager but it just came back after the safe mode reboot). It's probably not the only problem though. I have alot of processes (72) which i'm sure if far too many.

Anyway..i understand you get this all the time..i've tried 95% of what you said needed to be done before posting but my laptops so slow that it's taken almost a whole day to do those scans/reboots. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks, Dave T

You have not completed the online scans in the READ ME. So lets start by doing this as it will help with your system.

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Download HijackThis 1.99.1

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file as your backups will not be safely stored.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifBefore running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifRun HijackThis and save your log file.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next post. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post as it will be removed).
