Laptop screen blanks

    My laptop screen blanks the screen every time I open or load a programme sometimes it blinks twice when loading a program This is a new Dell Aspire 5820TG Timeline x i5-450M processor, 4 GB Mem and 650 GB HD.

    If you purchased new from Dell and it's under warranty contact Dell.

    Is the screen black and stays blanked?
    Have you tried to connect another monitor to it and force the screen to the external monitor? Use the fn button plus the monitor button on the keyboard (usually these are letterings and symbols in blue on a key)
