Laptop shuts off

as of late, my laptop has been having many problems..

1. Shuts off with no warning
a. its not overrheating
b. its not overcharged
2. Internet explorer, windows explorer, crash.. ALOT
3. Games - dont run very long at all(if this is due to overheating, what can u do about it on a laptop?


any help would be appreciated

 

Some spec's would help.
What OS.
How do you know it's not overheating, what's ya temps?
Maybe time for a bit of clean up, defrag, delete cookies, dump temp files, remove old usless junk, check for spyware, bugs, virus, etc?
Sometime's a good ole reformat & reinstall is best thing to clean up a problemmatic rig, but if your overheating that wont help cool it.
If your overheating ya might take apart laptop a give it good cleaning ya may have a little dirt buildup, be careful.

1g ram
ati radeon 9600


The computer was recently formatted, and there is no virus/spyware/adware on here.

 

those are some high powered specs for a notebook. I'd say it's probably a heat issue given what you've described. Does the caseing feel hot after a while? What is the enviroment, ambient temp, what surfaceis it sitting on? carpet? hard surface?
