My wife's laptop, which I'm using right now, has/had (?) problems. The laptop was given to her by the university she is attending. One of the symptoms was about 30 shortcuts to various items on her drive showed up suddenly on her desktop. Another was that caps and lower case letters were reversed. Another was that when I clicked on an icon on the desktop all others located before it would become highlighted. Also, when I opened any window, such as My Computer or Internet Explorer, various other windows would pop up. I went through the "read and run me first" and completed everything through step "6C". If I missed anything let me know. Here are three reports attached.

Here are two other reports. Since this laptop came from my wife's school, it has an administrator account with a password we don't know. Her school refuses to help without wiping out the drive and erasing very important info and projects. Jerks. Anyway, I could not get counterspy to work because of administrative settings. Also, AVG refuses to create a report even though I have "Automatically generate a report after every scan" selected and "Only if threats were found" unticked. So I'll just tell you that it found 2 tracking cookies and 1 adware called adware.minibug (medium threat).

Here you go. I downloaded and installed the latest Java program. Things seem to be going ok except that certain actions are somewhat slower than usual, such as rebooting and opening Explorer and other programs.
