Latest Adobe Update Disabled "save As Pdf" When Printing From Chrome

I've been streaming CNN live for several days (go.cnn.com) and each time I log on I have to click a link that takes me to Adobe. The page opens and it tells me I have version xxx. I exit and all is good on the streaming. Then yesterday afternoon when I went to the Adobe site it automatically installed an update. It didn't seem to bother anything. However, this morning I opened my Chrome browser which has always allowed me to click on print and have the option to "Save as pdf" only to find that option wasn't there. (I've never been able to get that option to work in Mozilla so I don't use that browser for work and I never use Internet Explorer.)

I ran cc cleaner to clear out any old cache, temp files, etc, rebooted and that didn't helped. For the past 4 hours I have searched the web for solutions. I have only Adobe reader. I don't have any regular Adobe programs so trying to install an Adobe PDF printer won't work. I've followed all the helpful suggestions I found on the web but nothing has worked. I really need some help as I work from home and not having this feature is causing me all kinds of problems.

I do not allow Flash player to run automatically. If I need Flash I'll allow it that one time.
Adobe Version is now - 15.17.20050.192152
Chrome plugin - Chrome PDF Viewer is enabled
Chrome plugin - Adobe Flash Player is disabled

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

The best way to get the latest version of Adobe Flash is go direct to their site.
Google Chrome has it built in and up to date each time you update Chrome.
Other versions of Chrome require the plug in to be installed separately.
You should be able to set to to 'ask to activate' when you need the content on a specific website.
It will list the one specific to the browser you are using.

Thanks Max. I did that, but Chrome isn't wanting to open a pdf when I click on "view xxx.pdf" instead it is doing what Mozilla does - wants to save the file. I checked a few different sites and I'm getting the same thing. So I don't know if getting the latest version of flashplayer worked or not

That's Adobe Reader (AR), not flash.
If you have AR preferences set correctly it should just open up automatically.
Plug ins for AR in any browser must be enabled for that to happen.

NB: There has been an update to Adobe Reader since the version number you show in post #1

See if these instructions work for Chrome (I don't have it installed so can't test)
    Enabling/Disabling Chrome's built-in PDF Viewer:
    1. Type about p lugins in Chrome’s Omnibox (also known as the URL box) and press enter.
    2. Click “Disable” or "Enable" for “Chrome PDF Viewer”.
    3. If disable was chosen, Chrome PDF Viewer will be disabled and Installed PDF Reader plug-in will be activated and from now on PDF files will be opened in Chrome by that PDF Reader (i.e. the Adobe Reader or Foxit PDF Reader)
I had to put spaces in because the board code is replacing about p l u g i n s with a smiley

Success!!!! A huge thanks to Max and to plodr. I had enabled the PDF viewer as one of the online suggestions I found. By disabling it it now opens my PDFs and Max's suggestion about Flash took care of the Save as PDF.

I don't know what I would do with all of you Major Geeks. Hugs to you all !
