EDDIE VAN HALEN To Fans: 'At The Moment I Do Not Feel That I Can Give You My Best' - Mar. 8, 2007
VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen has released the following statement:

"I would like VAN HALEN fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no VAN HALEN.

"I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

"Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 VAN HALEN tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I'm doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.

"I look forward to seeing you in the future better than ever and I thank you with all my heart."

    Wow....I had no idea!

EVH played the ultimate role model for me during my many years as a professional musician when i was i young man. I looked up to him and Alex (i am a drummer by trade) as a inspiration and influence on my work. He was, and always will be, a hero in my eyes, not to mention one of the most talented and gifted guitarists on the face of this planet!
Sure, I felt sort of empty when DLR left the band, but i felt new life was breathed into the line up with the introduction of Sammy Hagar.....new Life that i have never experienced, and can only be paralled (IMO) by the likes of ACDC and the introduction of Brian Johnston.
Not many bands have the ability to come back and shine, in the face of the sudden exit of a well known 'front man'...this is truely very hard to do (trust me).
It is incredibily hard for a band to survive the ultimate test of time as a unit, and probably even harder for an individual member to remain 'in tow', so too speak.
This is why i have the upmost respect for bands such as VH, ACDC, Rolling stones, Metallica, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne and the likes. They have all stood the test of time.
Being in a band is like a marriage, you have got to work bloody hard to make it successful and always consider the needs of your partner(s).

I wish Eddie all the very best as he attempts to fight his own personal demons, and i feel sure that he will come through the tunnel bigger, and better than ever....Tis a true muso, who is able to put his/her fans first!

Go hard Ed, and come back for us.....we love you mate!

Im now going to watch my video clip of 'Eruption' for some inspiration, and to relive some of those awesome memories that remain locked forever upstairs!

Many thanks for the heads up Blues man, and Keep on rockin Lev!

    Regards ;)
