Latest Firefox Update & Yahoo "Fighting"??

We're having problems getting in (STAYING in, actually) to the two different Yahoo email accounts on this PC (XP-SP3), and the problem(s) "seem" to have begun after we updated to Firefox 3.0.11 (?). I have since reverted (I think) back to 3.0.10, and done a cleanup w/CCleaner, and also a System Restore, but the problem(s) persist.

Before someone asks; yes - I do understand that only ONE account can be signed in on the same PC at a time.

    1. Two Yahoo accounts on one (1) PC.

    2. Can occasionally get in (and STAY in) to one of them.

    3. The second account will "get to" its "My Yahoo!" (personalized) page, but when we attempt to access mail (either from there or from the main mail sign-in page), we get bounced-out, and asked for the password.

When we go to Yahoo! "Help", no matter which option we select there (or no matter from which account), it seems to only be recognizing ONE account, and wants to send a password reset to that account.

We then tried that, and changed the password for the more problematic of the two accounts - to no avail.

Ok. I stumped.........(which is not difficult - for me!) ...........??

    Thanks in advance..........

For whatever it's worth, perhaps there is something to this Yahoo Sign-in problem that is related to a couple of other "issues" we've had as of late (?).

    1. The "Stand-by" feature in XP has stopped working. We have had to resort to bumping the Power button as opposed to the usual moving off the mouse of hitting any key to get it to come-out of Stand-by - which means we now don't use stand-by, but rather simply shut-down when done doing whatever we're doing.

    2. The "Log-Off" feature has also been acting-up. I could "Switch User", but I could not log-off of the primary (limited user) UA. I could however do both (log-off and/or switch user)from the Admin UA.

    3. After the System Restore, I got an "Active Desktop has been turned OFF" warning/message page. I don't know why that occurred - but it did.

    Thanks again in advance ..................

No sir - didn't think to do that - but I could certainly try that now (and you mean the PC's Safe Mode, not any ccleaner safe mode (that I am unaware of) - correct?

Well, unfortunately that didn't do the trick.

I suppose it's safe to say that the latest Firefox (3.0.11) did not cause my problem here, as the problems remains/continues since reverting to 3.0.10.

Again, it's as if the browser is only recognizing one yahoo email account, and while I can sign in to that one, I cannot sign into our other account (after logging-off of the first one), and then, if I attempt to sign back into the first one after attempting to access the second one, I am unable to do so, and have to close the browser and restart it just to sign into the first one. Does that make any sense (at all)?

    Any venture guessers out there?

    Hi Glen,

I just logged into my yahoo acct., they're working on Yahoo mail, as usual a lot of things get broken while fixing. Multiple errors and pardon me messages.
(I'm on a semi new laptop, betting the old desktop doesn't get that message)

*amused* One acct. is telling me to change my screen resolution due to the New features... another acct. logged in on same pc w/same browser is fine. One acct. seems to want to chat, while the other acct. chat server is down.

    Some suggestions:

Use the "sign in as different user" that shows under the login if it still shows another user logged in. Should log out other user acct and new one in.

Another thing to try is not checking the box that says "keep me logged in for 2 weeks" I seem to be able to use multiple yahoo logins on FF if not checked.... but not sure how long that will last.

Last to check is if another user left their yahoo logged in on the PC like say the guest acct.

Best option, wait for yahoo construction dust to settle and live with it for awhile because they're changing things around while your trying to fix it.

It's when I see what can go wrong that I appreciate the quality of the staff behind the scenes that make everything work at MGs.

    Hi - and thanks.

I "sorta" thought that the destruct...er, uh, that the CON-struction at Yahoo might have had something to do with it, but this evening I went into my IE (7) browser (I almost never use IE), and was able to access the troublesome Yahoo mail account (?).

Sounds as if I'm back to looking at Firefox as the culprit? Or perhaps the Yahoo "relationship" w/Firefox?

Thanks again - I'll be sure to post back if I ever figure it out ...

Your welcome, my best guess is that your accounts are on two different servers at yahoo, only thing I can think of being that one of mine is fine while the other is messed up.

I'm using FF 3.0.11, so not FF I believe, the server side software hasn't been updated on all servers is the most likely answer.

Yahoo servers are reporting errors all over the place... 78,500,000 hits in the last week for yahoo mail problems alone, games and other areas are reporting errors too. This happened the last time they updated, so nothing new.

From years of dealing with yahoo due to their relationship with my ISP I've learned to work around it till resolved, saves me headaches and you can't fix what's not broken on the user side if it's a server issue.

It's like when we login here, the server remembers us and our settings if something goes wrong the coders/programmers have to fix it, we the users can't.

    Hope this helps explain it.
