LCD display for games?

I want to buy a 19" or higher LCD display, and I game a lot.

My understanding is that a lower response time (in ms) generally means faster screen draws and that a figure as low as 2ms is desirable. Is this accurate?

Any recommendations for 19" LCD's with low response time? Any under $400? What about $300?

the one i bought was a MAG from best buy on sale for 225 19inch very nice repsonse time of 8ms. it rocks ^.^

EDIT: i play WoW, CoD2, BF2142 ect. im a big gamer as well

 

You can get a Viewsonic 19" for less than $300, 8ms or less (at least, Newegg offerings). I have a Viewsonic and am quite happy with it except for the stuck pixels I can't seem to make go away.

Dell has a 20" widescreen that is very nice. You can often find it for sale under the $400 mark.

 

In fact they have a new one: E207WFP 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD.

It's for sale for $289 and the reviews are quite favorable.
