Background: Ok so I have a old KDS 17" LCD that had a failure in the power supply brick (only pumping out about .75 to 1 amp, needs 5) I want to kinda rig something up to use it again :D

so my question is can I hook it up to my computer power supply (input requires 12 VDC at 5 Amp) I know with simple DC electronic circuits it will only pull the required voltage. However I'm not 100% sure a monitor would do the same. Can anyone verify my understanding for me that that if I hook the monitor into the 12V yellow line and ground on a power supply connector that it won't over pull amps?

Why not buy a replacement power brick? It would be a lot less risk to both your monitor an PC.
