It is illegal in most (all?) states in OZ to use a mobile phone, (if you're driving) and the vehicle is in motion. Many tests have found it is as bad as driving while under the influence of drink.

Idiots still do it.

Expensive lesson learned

It is common/standard procedure for phones to be turned off prior to entering classrooms and conference/meetings rooms. I've seen lecturers confiscate phones if used during class times.

 

Yes. It is illegal in Australia. And a sampling of requirements for using a phone while driving:

A mobile phone can only be used to make or receive a phone call (excludes email, text or video messages), only if the phone is either:

• secured in a mounting affixed to the vehicle - the mounting must be commercially designed and manufactured for the purpose and attached as the manufacturer intended; or
  
• remotely operated - the phone must not be held by or resting on the body (driver’s pocket or pouch excluded) and there must be no touching of the keypad. This is aimed at blue tooth technology, and earpieces and headsets (which themselves may be touched).

If a person wishes to make or receive a call, including dialling a number, and needs to touch the phone (including its keypad), the phone must be mounted.

Phones with loudspeakers can be used providing it is secured in a mounting and affixed to the vehicle in the manner intended by the manufacturer.

It is a constant struggle for me to not do things like build a cell phone jammer or an EMP cannon. I would love to just fry every electronic item on some idiotic sot.

 

In Belgium a lot of the hospitals have jammers i don't know how it works but i suspect there is a loop I.E the electrical wiring that stops outside satellite signals from working if you step out the door they work fine
