I can't get the sound config for a Old DOS game to recognise my sound, How do I find out what the Port, IRQ, and DMA are for my sound card. I know it has something to do with my legacy sound drivers and Dos emulation but I just don't know hwo to get the info I need in Win XP

The most likely problem is the legacy sound card is (usually) Sound Blaster, which is not used by the newer motherboards. I have had some older Athlon motherboards that had the Sound Blaster emulator, which did the trick. These standards were all the old game writers had to work with, there wasn't anything else at the time.

As I understand it, this is why Direct X was created. It standardizes the commands the games use to communicate to the various media drivers. Unfortunately, older standards/cards like Sound Blaster and Adlib got left in the dust.
