I need to find out USA law on a variety of issues related to children. Oregon specific law would be great too.

I'm looking for things about what age and how a child can leave home, become emancipated, civil harrassment, improper 'imprisonment', rights to leave against parental wishes, age of consent and penal implications. Basically I am looking for the CHILD's rights here, not the parents, guardians, etc.

Age is an important factor here, so info with that in mind would be great.

I'm googling my fingers off but I don't think I have the USA terminology right, because I'm not getting the results I had hoped for. Is there like a Children Act like we have in the UK?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Cornell Law School is always a good source so try searching there. Also the US Government website will lead you to information on Federal and State Laws. It takes time and digging but you should be able to find what you need from one or both sites. Hope this helps!:)

Lev ....best to call a local attorney ....I do know that if the child is in danger, molested, suffering from emotional or physical abuse ...it would be grounds for emancipation or fostering to a designated guardian ....but the child would have to testify and that makes it difficult .....they often will not cooperate if they have any doubts as to their ultimate safety ....
A local attorney will consult for free, esp. in these kinds of matters.

I am a Mandatory Reporter so I am aware of the implications. However, age is a factor, and the nature of my profession means I do have access to attorneys. Thanks for the advice, Tim :)

Have had some peripheral experience with this issue ....if you would PM me with some general detail, might be able to help more. I know it's very sensitive.
