well...I wanted a site that would read my mind and tell me if the url I was thinking about was valid or not.

instead I had to cut and paste the URL, but....

dang man thanks! that's what I was looking for!

Here's a very easy program to use: http://www.majorgeeks.com/content/p....com/showthread.php?p=1846028&ss=519j136421j3

It puts a green dot (safe) or yellow (questionable) or RED - Danger in the top of your browser.

And the site you mentioned got a big GREEN!!

Called Web of Trust - WOT

Another thing to remember is that many programs will ask you to check the box "recommended" which will install search programs and change your home page.

Maybe not Malware, but awfully annoying.

Just click "custom" and check decline all the way through and download will continue without that garbage.

    opps
    musta done something wrong
it downloaded a bunch of crap, even though I said no to all the add-ons, after Downloading it, when I hit a new tab on FF, a wierd window kept popping up and the file I downloaded was NOT tie fighter
I had made a restore point before downloading the file, so it all looks back to how it was before

I just want to play TIE FIGHTER like I did in 1995!

    Sorry you had the problem.
I've never had a problem when clicking "decline" and checking "custom".

That site looks pretty weird anyway.

If you had trouble downloading. contact them.

Make sure you don't click the large Download button in many ads. The right download button will pop up a captcha-like question (I got a math question) and instructions telling you to get a DOS emulator to actually use this game on windows. Answer the question, click the new Download button, then make sure it's downloading TIE-Fighter.zip from freegameempire.com. The exact url should be "http://www.freegameempire.com/ProductDownloadHandler.ashx?EncryptedTicketID=" followed by a bunch of random letters numbers or symbols, and the file 8.8MB. I haven't actually downloaded or installed it, but the online virus scanner linked above says the zip file contains a setup program. I don't think it actually scanned the installer, because it apparently was given an html error document, instead, so you probably should rescan after downloading. The installer may still have 3rd party addons you will need to opt out of, as well... Or, it may not even have an installer, just the raw DOS files after being unzipped.
