Lego Mindstorms Project information

We just got a project in college to use the Lego Mindstorms Sets and the leJos java language to create a robot that shows some forms of AI.

Anyway i was just wondering if anyone here has any experience in these matters and if they have any website links that help in the field of Speech Recognition and Colour identification.

The project i was thinking about is creating a robot that can find three balls on a table Red, Green and Blue and place them in the desired boxes also coloured Red, Green and Blue.

I was also thinking about using the voice recognition to tell the robot to get the eg Green ball and place in Blue box.

The voice command would be something like "Red Ball, Blue Box".

Any help from peoples experience would be greatly appreciated and even if you have seen articles that resemble the above please post.
