Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I've seem to run into a bit of a problem with my pc and I was hoping that someone would help me with it.

Since I installed TV Ants all these windows explorer windows have been opening automatically on this site:

    http://www.7939.com/

It looks like some kind of Asian Yahoo or something. I've tried to reset my homepage to yahoo, but it won't go.

My pc has been showing some other problems as well. Some 'errors' here and there. It's really ticking me off. Can anyone help me?

    Greetz.

    welcome to Major Geeks!

What exactly did you install again?
Have you done a av or spyware scan yet?
Might also want to try ccleaner
it's a really good program for cleaning up junk clogging up your pc.

TV Ants. It's an Asian programma so I can watch certain programmes on my pc (I use it to watch sports).

I'm now using a free trial of Ewido and it seems that I have 37 infected objects on my pc.

That sounds like the exact same problem I had. I would seriously advise you to get your pc thorougly checked for viruses.

Try the READ & RUN ME FIRST sticky in Malware section. Once you follow all the steps if still infected post in malware section

    Hello,

I too am new to this forum, and I've struggled all summer with the malware on my daughter's computer. Now that she's starting back to school next week, I need to fix this fast. I followed all the instructions I could in Read and Run Me first before asking for support. I was unable to download BitDefender (possibly because I use Mozilla Firefox, although Internet Explorer is also installed) and so I did not run Panda Active Scan either. Pop ups keep downloading to her computer until it bogs down. Seems to be something in the startup called iesettingsupdate that takes me to an Internet Explorer page. Adfirstsolutions keeps downloading and all kinds of other popups. I've taken everything off I can identify. Windows Defender also encountered an error: 0x80501001 and could not complete one or more actions. I also get a Run DLL error on startup now error loading W08473f.5dll.

Thanks for any advice you can offer in fixing this.

    MaryLou

Hi MaryLou, you should post these probs in malware section as the experts will probably never read this post. Since you have posted a hjt log you will not be able to post the log again in malware. will notify admins and hopefully they will move your post.

    MaryLou,

This thread was moved to the Malware Forum but you cannot post in this thread anymore. You should always start a thread of your own when you have a problem. Posting in another users thread with your own problems is a no no! This thread can now only be posted in by Toto who is the creator of the thread.

You need to run ALL of the below ( The same goes for anyone else having suspected malware problems!)

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

      • [*]runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
        [*]newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
