If you’re feeling depressed or anxious, going outside for a run is probably the furthest thing from your mind. It can be hard to get motivated when you’re stuck in a rut, but it is well worth making the effort because running can be a powerful tool in the fight against anxiety and depression. Start by promising yourself you’ll run for just five minutes, and there is a good chance you’ll surprise yourself and end up running for even longer. So let’s beat anxiety in going outside for a run. God speed!

One of our hospitals, before they closed it down, used to have races - sometimes they got a bit out of hand...

But they had fun doing it too!

    Totally agree.
'fraid I'm not up to running, but I still enjoy walking, and there are lots of places around near where I live that take in bush walks or coastal walks or walks along the beach - so I really don't have any excuses for not taking a hike:D

My favourite is a 10km (6 miles) from near my place to Manly Beach.

Here are some of the scenes along the way:

These steps tell me exactly what my current level of fitness is...if I can manage breathe by the time I reach the top:eek:

...there's more steps further up the top around the corner...out of sight...

One of the great things about this walk, are treasured Indigenous engravings on the Rocks along the pathway...they tell stories of how the natives would fish from the rocks, then find shelter under the overhanging rocks...

..and (below) the views looking across the waters towards the Sydney Heads (entrance to our Sydney Harbour) is spectacular...never get tired of the views...on the left is North Head, on the right is South Head's Lady Bay (nudist Beach...squint and you may see some of the bathers:p) and further along after climbing some rocks is Camp Cove (a Harbour Bay beach - shark netting in the water I later found proved pretty useless!)

Now the view changes again as Manly comes into view:

Once at Manly Beach, a brunch or late lunch

Then sleep like the dead at night:D
