Lexmark print drivers

    Took last advice and upgraded slightly brought used e-machineD6417 with win xp installed athlon64 processor need to upgrade mem any who will not install tru printer disk will not aknowledge that printer is indeed connected to puter while in setup mode, or if using xp install wisard will not locate info on disk so communication in system is not working properly:cry

    Hi

    Was Windows XP pre-installed on this 2nd hand PC? if so have you made sure that all core system drivers from e-machines are updated and that no yellow ! marks are in Device Manager.

    What is the Service Pack of this Windows XP version?

    The Lexmark printer is the same as the one in your other thread? the x1270

    What is the error message you get in full when trying to install via the driver CD from Lexmark?

    Have you checked and unsintalled any old previous Printer drivers that may have been installed on this PC?

    Download the latest drivers from Lexmark themselves for your Printer model and install from that setup file opposed from the one off the disk, driver for XP found HERE and info on how to install a downloaded driver from Lexmark HERE (dont have the Printer USB cable plugged in until told to do so)

    New problem same puter no sound card recognized in system intergrated in board. The multi media audio controller is yellowed out tried to reinstall from system files driver is not in system, code 28 pops up. I will upgrade memory today but sound is current issue what can u exspect from a 75.00 computer worth the minor problems. Thanks in advance for the help

    same computer last major problem video controller is yellowed out downloaded ati video driver to update while setup proceeded this prompt came up (setup cannot proceed because length of the specified directory path plus the installation folder exceeds 88 characters.) I shorten the name of the folder now i get a prompt asking what i would like to open the folder with. uuuuuugh help

    I agree with Halo about the drivers for your Lexmark. And I found the drivers for your desktop at opendrivers...;)
