I ran this lastnight and allowed it to repair what it considered bad files. Now I have no windows intaller and even windows EXEs are broken. I would do a restore, but even that no longer works. Would you please help me fix this? :cry

Thank you in advance for your help.

Did you try to restore before you did the change with regscrub.

    Using System restore.....

I did a backup, and a system restore recently, because of another issue I had. I tried to do a system restore after the program deleated my files. I can't uninstall anything or open anything.

    Go to C:\Program Files\RegScrubXP
In that folder is a backup that looks like the pic enclosed, you can double-click on that registry file and it will restore the files that you deleted. Or you can use the tab at the top of RegScrubXP that say's restore like in the pic View attachment Desktop.zip

Maybe it might be advisable to recheck the latest version of Lexun RegScrubXP 3.25

Maybe the latest version has some flaws.
Previously downloaded over 635,000 times on MG and with a good rating previously.

Re-read this thread, and other thread links I listed.

May help save others some grief. Bazza

Dbl clicking backup file gives me the same error. Windows can't open it. That was the first thing I tried.

Maybe use command prompt, type in sfc /scannow
Will need your windows xp cd

    when that is finished
    Type in sfc /cachesize=x
    when that is finished
    sfc /purgecache
    when that is finished
type in exit and hit enter on the keyboard

3 people out of over half a million having problems is not a reason to remove. I have no idea what was on their machine beforehand including viruses, etc. He has long since closed shop and the "latest version" is still from 02.

I can't get into command prompt either. When I look into the folder the .exe is still there, but it doesn't work. I appreciate the time you are taking to assist me in fixing this situation.

Thanks, M.A. I should have looked more carefully at the latest version date.
For some reason, I "thought" 2006, not 2002   Sorry to trouble you. Bazza

I know my pc has no virus. I use Advanced Windows Care and Avast antivirus and Windows Defender, all are programs I dloaded through Majorgeeks. I recommend this site to all of my family and friends. This is the very first time i have had an issue with a utility from this site. I made a backup before I used RegScrub, however without the exes or installers, I have been unable to use my backup. I have Windows Media Center installed, but I just moved so it's still in storage. I have with me Xp Pro. Since none of my exes or installers work, is there a way I can install from a command prompt or am I forced to reformat?

    Thanks again for the help.

I fix one time a computer like this using anothers regcleaner i use regSupreme
and it fix the other one re-boot and evereything was working okay
BUT it could go either way it could mess up your computer even more
so it's a 50/50 kind of thing if you think you have nothing to lose try it
if NOT don't do it...you can download regsupreme here http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegSupreme_d4001.html

I'm getting in late on this. I use this program, the trick is to have your pc in a reasonable known state before letting RegScrub fix a lot of reported problems. To just turn it loose is a gamble. Sorry you got in trouble with it...hopefully the more savvy users here can help you nurse it back.

I have the same problem can't restore from the backup no exe or dll files will open to do anything. I did'nt copy HKLM.CMb or HKCU.CMB to a save place.
I did'nt know I was suppose to until I read the help folder by then it was to late. That should be in the install notes. What can I do to get my computer back up and running write.

    Thanks woody11
