LG monitor - backlight flashes on, then stays off

    Mate just brought round a 2 year old LG L1915s lcd monitor.
    When it's turned on, the screen lights up and goes black again. The same thing happens if the VGA lead is pulled/pushed in.

    Any ideas?

    Seen this before except there was no light but you could shine a flashlight on the screen and see something my guess is the back light although I have heard in rare cases where video drivers have caused this to. P.S. replacing the back light is a pain
