License Management

Hello Majorgeeks,

Earlier tonight I was looking around online and clicked on a link that would bring me to watch a music video. The site appeared, and a commercial was played in the viewer. Then a message appeared asking if I wanted to install a license to view the content. I clicked "No". The video played anyway.

Later on, I played a file in Windows Media Player. When I went to close it, a window popped up saying the following,

I chose "No" to the license backup question.

This is the first time I ever got this message. If someone could please tell me what this means, where these licenses are stored, and what, if anything, they could do such as tracking my usage. I would like to remove this license if possible. Thank you for any help you can provide here.

 

yep, welcome to DRM hell when it is install i don't think you can uninstall the licence the only way is to un-install windows media and re-install.....

Thanks for the reply, but I still don't know what this license can do. I just did a little searching about DRM, but a lot of the stuff is beyond my comprehension at this point. I would like to know how I can determine what licenses were placed, if any, and how to get rid of them. The site I had this problem with was called MTV Overdrive. I did not agree to have any license installed, and if one was, I want to get rid of it.
