Hello. I have question. I dont know if i have faulty wiring, bad installation or its bulb. When i have lights off long time and turn on ceiling lightning ( bulb halogen or fluorescent? ) , there is a for 2-3 second bulb dimm/flicker and its normal/fine. Happens only when lightning is off long time and i turn on.

When i turn off lights and turn on again its fine. That flicker/dimm happens only when lights are off long time. That happens for example if i have lights off 2-3 hours and turn on.Thx

Why it happens only after lights are off for long time?

    Bulb looking like that here:

If you wait for some time (say 3 hours) and switch on the light again, it flickers before lighting-up, again.

Why does it flicker before lighting up?
And why doesn't it after a 2 seconds gap in turning it on and off?

That is a compact florescent light. They do often flicker when cold. And when they get old, they may flicker longer when turning on when cold. It could also be the starter/ballast in the fixture too.

I think it wise to be concerned about the power.

I recommend all computers be connected to a "good" UPS with AVR (automatic voltage regulation). Note it is the AVR that makes a good UPS so important and valuable. Battery backup power during a full outage is only a minor bonus feature.

You should also make sure your wall outlets are properly wired and grounded to Earth ground. Every home and every computer user should have access to a AC Outlet Tester to ensure the wall outlet is properly wired and grounded to Earth ground. I recommend one with a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupt) indicator as it can be used to test bathroom and kitchen outlets (outlets near water) too. These testers can be found for your type and voltage outlet, foreign or domestic, (like this one for the UK) at most home improvement stores, or even the electrical department at Wal-Mart. Use it to test all the outlets in the home and if a fault is shown, have it fixed by a qualified electrician.
