LightScribe drives are definitely NOT on all laptops.

Let's make sure that Windows (I'm assuming you're on XP - correct me if I'm wrong) recognizes the drive before we look at the program.

To do so, please do the following:

    1. Right-click 'My Computer'
    2. Select 'Manage'
    3. On the 'Computer Management' window, click 'Device Manager'
    4. Expand the section for DVD/CD Rom Drives (Let us know if there ISN'T one)
    5. Under here, write down EXACTLY what it says, and make note if there are any yellow exclamation marks, or red x's.

    Let us know!

I just took a look at the drive's specifications and saw no mention of the drive supporting LightScribe. Typically a drive that does have LightScribe technology built into it will have the LightScribe label/logo right on the drive door/panel that folds down when you open the drive to put a disk in or remove one.
