MA, if you liked LORD then you need to play this one, basically the same game in a web version. It even states that it's based on Seth Able's game. I remember that game well as I did some RIP graphics for Seth back in the day so to speak. That was a long time ago on a Wildcat! based BBS I used to run. He had decided to look into RIP graphics as it seemed to be the way to go back then, finally decided to go back to basic ANSI graphics instead. Great game though, did you used to play Food Fite too?

 

I play KoL on occasion, but not as much as I play Progress Quest. In fact, I'm playing PQ while I work!

I've never played anything you guys showed but I was wondering if they were text based games.

I've played more than my fair share of text based games such as Kings of Chaos, Archmage before it went p2p and Dark Grimoire. Always gives me a week or so of entertainment then I get bored.

 

i'm trying KoL.. wish you could do more than 40 adventures a day...
also, tried PQ... all i get is a window that shows stats and progress. it does it all and i sit and watch... boring actually... did i download something wrong? i thought the idea of rpg is playing the game, not watching the computer do it.

 

Well, it's a bit of a commentary on the treadmills which most MMORPGs utilize to the fullest.

From the manual: "The game will start immediately and you can safely familiarize yourself with the game's single interface screen as the game progresses on its own. Soon your avatar will will be seeking and destroying an exotic panopoly of beasts while you gaze proudly on. Missing, you will notice, is the tedious march from town, the bewildering maze of cookie cutter streets hiding some specific merchant or NPC, and the repetetive hunt for just the right beast to execute. Progress Quest supplies your character with an endless series of victims, as well as exciting quests which keep your quest log full to the brim at all times."

And: "Progress Quest belongs to a new breed of "fire and forget" RPG's. There is no need to interact with Progress Quest at all; it will make progress with you or without you."

However, the joke is somewhat lost once it is explained. Regardless, I am up to level 72 on Spoltog.

Yeah, I've got kinda hooked too. Mew, you can up your adventures/day by eating and drinking until you are full/drunk -- though don't get drunk until the end of the day. You can't adventure when drunk and it does not go away until the daily reset. Once you reach level 5 you can shop in the mall and find store that sell food cheap. I can usually get around 70 adventures a day, though you can probably get many more if you can afford more expensive food/booze.

**blush** i have 4 familiars now! they were gifts. if you pass the alter of literacy and click on the chat, you will start in the newbie channel. some clans have karma... they have to do good deeds. so, read and post in the chat and if someone asks (don't beg) tell them you are a newbie and always say thank you... then you will recieve gifts... i'm sitting on 20,000 i recieved last night. there are other channels of chat too. /c games - read and they hold trivia contests... and /c trade which is the trade channel and you can trade stuff... always admit to being a newbie in each channel and you might recieve 'buffs' or ask what one is... a buff is a spell that helps you adventure... also.. explore heir forum.. lots of info there too.
