I installed Need For Speed 3 on my computer for the kids to play, but it won't let them play because of the limited account I have them on. I have no problem playing it on my administrative account. Is there anything I can do to give them access to this game without giving them access to my critical system files and folders? The game installed in Program files folder. Would installation in a different directory help, so as to be accessable like solitare, pinball and freecell are. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

What do you mean by SUID Administrator? Sorry I'm a Geek in training. LOL!

Hopefully Kodo or someone else will pop-in and tell me if it's even possible, let me do some googling.

Well I've tried installing to a different directory without any luck. I thought the Shared Folder was susposed to be accessible to all users!? The program does open to let me pick stuff like car, track, player name and general settings but as soon as I click Race I get FILE FAILED TO OPEN config.dat!.... Guess i'll put them on Administrative account and hope that the RestoreXP program works if they screw anything up. At least my password will keep my documents safe.

run it as administrator and find config.dat, then make that world write/read able, problem fixed.

Do you mean change the file association for config.dat?

Right click on it and go to permissions tab.

I don't get a permission tab when I right click. Do I have something set wrong?

You can only access the permissions tab in WinXP home by booting to safemode.

If you can't find out how to give the right permissions, then you can always just create a shortcut to the game where you give permissions to run only the game with administrator priviledges:

Thanks for the help VLad902 and snakefoot. I applied the changes in safe mode and everything went just fine.
