Link on taskbar that wont go away

My name is Brandon, the other day I was surfing the web looking for new internet games. Something to pass the time while at work. Well it said i needed to update my media player to the latest version, so me being dumb I clicked the link and a program installed itself on my computer. Its called VirusHeat, I was able to uninstall the program from my computer, but on my taskbar, there is a flashing sheild, blue and red. It looks like the security center icon, but it's not. When I place my cursor over it, it doesn't show anything. When I try to right click it to remove it from the taskbar it takes me to VirusHeat.com webpage. Im stuck here as far as I don't know what this program might be doing to my computer, and I can not seem to get rid of it from the taskbar. I could use some advice on what to do.
