In internet explorer if I click on a link on a web page, it will not open. I can right click, save target as, sometimes that will work. Can you tell me what has happened? Some sites' links work, some don't.
This just started happeneing recently when I took steps to remove valuead and oher spywae off my computer, don't know if that has anything to do with it though.

    Try this:

    1. Quit all programs that are running.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
    4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):

    • Shdocvw.dll
    • Msjava.dll
    • Actxprxy.dll
    • Oleaut32.dll
    • Mshtml.dll
    • Browseui.dll
    • Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

    Let us know.

I just fought with the same similar problem. Go to microsofts website and download the tool mcrepair.exe. It worked for me. First it asked to keep newer file versions and after I rebooted I was still experiencing the same problems with links not opening, so I had it overwrite the existing files. Everything back to normal now. I think that the file oleau32.dll somehow got corrupted. Anyway it worked for me.

;) Another way to fix it would be to insert your original windows disk in your CD drive and replace the C:\windows\system\oleaut32.dll file with the original. You may have to register the file again by clicking start button;run; and typing in the file name and clicking OK. Hope this helps.

Did you just install Service Pack 2? Seems like this is going around...

IF all else fails, reinstall IE.
I had the same problem a few months back and I finally just reinstalled IE and it fixed the problem.
