Linux boot CD issues. (Help)

Hi all,

Im in need of some help, my laptop (Fujitsu Seimens Amilo Pro) picked up a virus after looking at some "riske" websites (im only human).

Anyhow it automatically shut down and now won't boot up. The power is on, the fans are running and i have (i think) checked all the obvious.

I've tried safe mode with all the options, I've also tried the Linux Mint Boot CD that I created with imageburn after reading a similar thread on here.

My problem is that when I reboot with the linux CD created on a different PC it gets so far and then says; (paraphrased)

'it needs an x86-64 CPU and i have a i686 CPU, please select an appropriate kernel'

I've tried searching on google 'download linux mint for i686 CPU' and the only things coming up are more forums and people far cleverer than me chatting about it.

Short of buying a gun and killing the pc or myslef i'm out of options.

Help anyone?

 

Hi, thanks for the speedy message, I'm downloading it now, need to go and buy some more discs as I only had the writeable ones not the re-writable. Hopefully it works, i'll let you know.

Hi again, I'm now using my pc for the first time in two weeks thanks to you!!! I really appreciate your help. Next question, how do I get to see all my old files and programs etc. i.e. restore my pc back to what it was before, I was using windows XP.

Any help would be appreciated.
