    i guess its time to get linux and stop using windows for good

    is it easy to download?

    Yes, you just need to download the iso file and run it through Rufus and create a bootable USB drive. It can run from a USB drive or you can install it and be your main operating system.

    If you cant make windows work, then you will most likely struggle with Linux.

    Start by watching this video on how to install Linux for beginners!

    You will most definitely battle with Linux. Linux is NOT a cure-all for windows... it is not easy to use as you will most surely discover.

    its taken 12? years but stuck bootable USB in and it appears to work

    should i erase my tiny 32 gig netbook?

    Not yet.

    First you make live linux USB sticks. Next you take your time booting and see a) does the distro you selected like your computer's hardware and b) do you feel comfortable using it.

    Take your time and try out different distros. Eventually you'll find one that almost feels as comfortable as Windows and all your hardware is usable: network, audio and good screen resolution.

    i erased my windows 7 computer and posting from Ubuntu ...it seems to work fine

    I'm glad Ubuntu is working out for you. I feel the people saying that Linux is hard to use is a bit out of date. Keep asking questions if you run into any roadblocks.
