Great find Bazza (or should we just call you Myth Buster), I hope most figured that out, as that was the only alleged "News Report", though the guy did a great job on it.

 

The midgets would win eventually,lions cant fight for long ,if they dont get a kill within a few seconds or so they give up in exaustion

Well personally I have seen a cat, ordinary house cat, do serious damage to much larger dogs. The cat is one of the other few animals on the planet that kills for sport. A lion can weigh up to how much? 5 or 6 hundred pounds?

I would rather think 40 midgets even at 150 lbs each wouldn't stand much of a chance.

While the link address is suspect to an actual bbc news site, and doesn't link to a credible site, it sure could be a hoax.

But I remember back awhile some similar hoax busters say the chernobyl motorcycle trip was a hoax also. And I beleive it is said that the moon landing is a hoax also.

Thank you very much, I still like the imagery I have of 42 midgets fighting a lion. It could have been 42 body builders for all I care. Ask Zigrfried and Roy about the strength of a big cat.


As far as endurance? I wouldn't bet my life on "I can tire the cat out". One nature channel showed a panther taking on a boa constrictor for sport, in the water

Hoax, probably, but it could have happened if you could find 42 stupid people.

And the guy who says he did it(write the article0, doesn't really offer significant proof that he did.

I really don't think people would be so stupid as to try and fight a lion, but then again by the discussions on it, I guess I might be misjudging the stupidity of some. If the arguments are believed that the 42 midgets could win, why then wouldn't they try? Thus giving a tad bit more credibility to the story.


But in all fairness, I didn't find the story on the bbc site, but then again, after mobs of angry people come crying, that could be deleted,and thus no denial of the story, or a lack of denial, so others may come visit their site. Either way, a fun tasteless story as some would say.

If it really did happen, well, maybe they should have tried a bull first LOL.

 

Because the first couple of midgets in would probably get killed just to tire the lion out,most lion attacks are unsuccessfull they chose to back off when the going gets tough

Lions muscles are all fast twitch muscles they work for a short time very intensley and give off alot of lactic acid which seizes muscle contractions after only a short time,in the wild the lion just gives up and the prey runs away,the lion then has a few hours to recouperate before the next attack,he wouldnt have that luxury in a forced battle situation

If you fed the midgets to the lion one by one after about the third kill it would have used up its energy reserves 'ATP and sugars' stored in the muscles

This is one of those absolutely pointless conversations which no on will ever know the answer to,fun but pointless

 

hmm maybe 45 midgets would have had a better chance lol.
