listen up people..here is how it works..

I've seen a rash of bull-crap on the board lately especially with members qustioning how and why posts have been moderated. I'll make this quick.

If a post or thread or member has been moderated it is for a good reason and will remain as such until otherwise contested by the owners themselves (being Tim and Jim).

If you don't like it, frankly I don't care. DON'T question why , just accept it. We've been moderating boards for a long time and we understand how this board has been run in the past and how it should continue to run.

There has been a certain disrespect to the moderators and I'm not happy about this. We do this on our own time and have real life issues to deal with. We don't need to be baby sitters. Most of you are adults and we hope that you understand our viewpoint on this matter.

We like have to fun here and we (the moderators) try to propagate a fun atmosphere but posts leading to illegal and material and not appropriate sites will not be tolerated and that is up to US to decide.. not you. If it gets moderated, once again, don't question it. It simply is and that is the end of it.

It's about time this board returned to the mature board that it once was.

I'm leaving this post open.. in other words, here's your rope.. you can tie your own noose or leave it be..

In my opinion, the moderators on here do a wonderful job. This is probably the BEST message board I have belonged to.

You should pat yourselves on the back for having a great site for people to come to for problems, help, and just some good talks.

Just a minor additon here.

Abby is to be treated with the same respect that I recieve. Sometimes I see that she is not taken seriously. Trust me, if I see it again, we will discuss suspension (temporary) of posting privileges for that user.

Tim, Jim and Myself support her decisions and that is final.

i should have know that i should not have posted the links to the music downloads in a thread....
next time i will just PM them to the poeple that i know will want them, but i must tell you that the links were 100% legal and band aproved. if the band does not want there music shared than the site will not post there music.

We don't have a lot of time to verify this material. When it comes to music, it's more of a knee jerk reaction because most of it is shared without consent.

General statement below:
The PM system is not to be used to share illegal material either. Infact, none of MG's resources are to be used for illegal purposes.

 

This board has always been a place to get great information, help & alot of times, a damn good laugh. I enjoy the fact that there isn't alot of childish antics here. Having been a moderator a few times myself, I truely understand that it is a thankless job ( yes it is a job ) & I'm sure you all like not having to corral the kiddies all the time, but you sometimes must do the unpopular thing ( hmmmm where I have I heard that before? ).

I think you guys do a great job around these here parts.

 

i have been to about two other boards, and this is the best because its well moderated. i have only made one complaint and before i could make the complaint the post had already been deleted so there ya go. just one example of a good job.

so you see if the band does not allow it to be downloaded for free than this site does not host links to there music....

That's cool Smok, thanks for bringing it to my attention. If you want to post links to material like this with licenses like this,feel free. But I ask you to explicitly state such so I don't have to go looking for it. Eitherwise I will remove it. It's nothing personal. I don't have the time nor the inclination to verify anything of the sort and I just cannot let MG be associated with anything illegal . I'm sure you understand.

Yes you do, and yes you do. You even banned me for a few days a long time ago.

Ain't nobody perfect, but I've not met a fairer bunch of mods than here. It's not glamorous, and it's not an ego trip, at least it's not when it's done right. Primarily it's a pain in the butt and a lot of work... all for free, and occasionally with a lot of flak from the peanut gallery. Kudos (no, not Kodos ) to all of them.

 

I've hung my hat here for 2+ years now...I definitely consider MajorGeeks my forum of choice. The fact that threads like this are rarely necessary is the primary reason why.

In all my time here, I've only had two confrontations with individuals, and they were both mis-understandings. I remember who they were with, and what they were over. Being able to remember that kind of stuff definitely says a lot about the quality of posters and mods/admins....I guess it also helps that I don't really open my mouth much anymore.

Hmmm...I don't fit into the first two...I'm kinda wondering which of the last two I fit into.

 

Well, I'm certainly over 30, and I do like to chat here occasionally, have done since the beginning (before?).

Don't wanna add any fuel to something that's not my concern...but on the upside.

Well, I fit into the first one, and started being one of the second. Then, came back more and more often just to read and hopefully learn. The third, I don't chat much as I am not as knowledgeable (sp), but thankfuly I do not fit into the fourth. I do enough moderating of my own at home with 4 kids, 2 teenagers........

Yeah, I'm more of the third one. Okay, I think everyone should reply to this thread if they wanna show that they respect the mods' work IMO. I think the ones here are a lot nicer than from other boards I've been too.

 

Okay then. I didn't think it had to be said, but I think the moderators on this site do an excellent job. It is much more friendly here than at other forums. It is a top quality site.

 

What I like about the help offered here as opposed to other help forums, is that here you get none of the "Holier than tho" attitudes you get so many other places. They explain everything in great detail & will hang with you even if you are a bit slow on the uptake. hehe

Once I've been clued in to how I should've handled a topic I replied to & it was done with the upmost of professionalism. I love this place.

I can't thank all of you enough. I have learned quite a bit here and will continue to come back for the free education. The mods and the majority of the people on the boards here are very pleasant and helpful.

How many adult boards could you comfortably let your children lurk through? I can't recall the last time I saw a true explative on the boards.....

You guys are good at what you do, and very patient with people in need or just looking for advice. You really help me through my day at the office. If it is for advice, help or just a joke and/or web-site. Which this thread reminds me.... I still need to order a shirt, don't know if I want the black or camo.

Not only Computer advice but fasion as well. Camo it is. My 8 yr old son want one too. the 13 yr old girl wants black. My 6 yr old isn't quite a geek yet. Heck I can't get my boys to sit down and watch TRON.

Hi all!!

Thought I'd add my two cents worth.......
Well, I'm definitely over 30...heck, my kids are all over 30!! I stumbled upon MG when I needed some help with something simple and often come back looking for info and always feel as though I've picked up some knowledge even just lurking around. I know I am a dummy compared to the people that do the helping here, but appreciate the fact that I'm always treated kindly when I ask for help. (Those of us who didn't grow up with computers are definitely at a disadvantage, but are grateful to those who will share their knowledge) It's good to know I can come here and be 'safe' , if you know what I mean.
Not big on chatting but have joined the Folding team and hope others will do the same......it's an important project.
