LiteOn SHW-160P6S Will Not Read/Write

    This drive was functioning properly but has now quit detecting a disk, both cd & DVD, OEM or burnt. It will however detect & run a CD at boot start.

    I have removed from device hardware and reinstalled, reinstalled driver except it will not let me to a driver install from the driver install package, (can't find drive).

    Any suggestions? :p

    I'm assuming you're running WinXP... try a System Restore back to right before the problem started or uninstall any software that was installed right before the problem became noticeable....

    Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried that without success. Finally searched Microsoft website and they had a repair that worked. Thanks again. :cool
