Just finished recovering from a Google redirection malware, and now i randomly got the Live Security Platinum virus/malware. I noticed about 4 days ago that my PC was taking extra long to start up, when I started up my PC yesterday the Live Security Platinum Malware popped up upon start up. I also received some error messages relating to Adobe Flash player, I can't remember what they said but I wasn't even running Adobe Flash Player so I'm guessing that the message was some part of the Live Security Platinum Malware I now have. When downloading the MG tools I was not able to save it to C:/, which is the root folder of the drive that I have Windows installed on. I use Mozilla Firefox and when i tried to browse my computer so that I could save Mg Tools to the c:/ the browse button didn't work I kept hitting it but nothing would happen. So instead I saved it to C:\Users\Chris Vought\Desktop\Desktop since that was the location that was listed under the save files to: section of Firefox download settings. After downloading it I moved it to C:/, I just thought I'd let you know in case that effects fixing this problem I have. As of now I still cannot use the browse button in any window of Firefox and as a result I can't attach the logs I was told to attach in the Read Me Thread. I'll try to use Internet explorer to attach them. Also in case you need to know I'm running on Windows Vista 32 bit system.

    Sorry for the delay.

    Rescan with HitmanPro
    • When it finds services.exe - Virus, allow it to Replace by clicking the down arrow next to the detection and choosing Replace.
    • Leave any other detections alone (Ignore them).
    • Afterwards, click the Next button.
    • HitmanPro may want to reboot the PC in order for the changes to take affect, please do so.
    • After reboot and when you are back in Windows, run another scan with HitmanPro and then attach the latest hitmanpro.zip log See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.
Then run RogueKiller and run a scan. After it finishes the scan, select the Registry tab and then select any of the below that exist and then click the Delete button.

Then select the Files tab and if the below exist, click the Delete button again.

    Then immediately reboot your PC.

After reboot, run a new scan with RogueKiller and save a log as in original instructions and attach the new log.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).
    Then attach the below logs:
    • the new Hitman log
    • the new RogueKiller log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Ok I'm really sorry but I accidentally hit next after running the second scan for hit man pro and a bunch of the detections got deleted. By the way everything I have done so far has been in Safe Mode with networking, I'm not sure if that matters. Also I can't find hitmanpro.zip but I did save the logs from the two scans I ran. I started up in normal mode after the accidentally deleted the detections and the live security platinum virus didn't pop up, just thought I'd let you know. I've attach the hit man pro logs from the scans I ran but I think I'll wait to run the other scans until you tell me to in case my accident has effected the recovery process.

Please be careful to follow instructions properly. Also you should not be in safe boot mode unless requested or unless you cannot run in normal boot mode at all.

Did you run RogueKiller as requested? Based on the Hitman logs it does not look like it. I need the new log.

Ok I switched to normal mode like you said. When I ran RogueKiller none of the detections you listed under the registry tab were there, also under the files tab there were no detections at all. I've attached the new RogueKiller log and the C:/MGlogs.zip file you asked for.

Okay perhaps another reboot was required into normal mode before RogueKiller finished removing those items. Your logs are clean now but you have some residual damage from the infection that must be repaired.

Be patient while doing the below. The fixes can take quite awhile to run. Especially the permissions repairs. It may be best to kick it off and goto bed or do something else. It is better not to run anything while the repairs are going on.

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.
    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Repair Windows Firewall
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Repair Windows Updates
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup
    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

Now ddownload the below file and save it to your Desktop

    BITS.reg

Then right click on it and select Merge. If prompted, allow it to be added to your registry. Then reboot.

After reboot, run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click
    and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

When I was running the windows repair I noticed it was up to the 3rd repair, then about a minute later i looked back and a window was on my screen that read something along the lines of "In 1 minute you will be logged off and your computer will restart." and the only option was to press a close button. I didn't touch it but after 1 minute my computer restarted and I'm not exactly sure if the scan completed. I just thought I'd let you know. I've attached the MGlogs.zip as you instructed me to do.

    Your logs are good now.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
