Local access only on router help

I'm new to all of this but I'm pretty good with other aspects of the computer.

Machine is running vista
Local access only when connected to router
All other devices and computers work on the network
Ipv4 on cmd reads 169.254.254.53
Subnetmask is 255.255.0.0
Dns servers .. Fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1
Fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1
Fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1


Let me know if u need more info. I need help. Having to do everything on my iPhone.

 

the same info from a computer that works will help. It's obviously not set correctly but easy to add in the correct info with a static setting with the help of another, functioning system's settings.

 

so i just run the cmd on another computer on my network and add all the info in network setting? from that computer except change the IP on mine ?

 

Simple answer is yes.

The longer answer is if you are using DHCP on the network, try to stay away from the range that the router is assigning. So if the router is assigning 192.168.0.20-40, try making your misbehaving computer 192.168.0.70. The subnet, gateway and DNS servers should be the same as the functioning computer.

If you find that the DNS server is the same as the gateway and it won't work for you, try a temp DNS setting of 4.2.2.2 . It's not the fastest option and it should only be used for testing. You can look up the DNS servers for your ISP once you have connection.

 

tried that but couldnt get a good alternate dns server. i will change teh ip like you said and see what happens. sorry if i sould dumb, im new to the networking stuff, in a way
