Local Access only

I have a problem .
I have reloaded from factory defaults two laptops one with windows 7 and one with Vista .
The windows 7 laptop is fine and connects to the internet ok via wireless .

The vista laptop is working fine in all ways but it cannot connect to the internet as it says Local access only , it can see everything on my network but cannot access the internet .It is fine when it is on a cable but not when it is on wireless .I know the internet is ok as i am using the windows 7 laptop / a xp laptop as well on the same network and accessing internet ok .

What firewall software are you running?

 

i have zone alarm running , but this was happening before i reloaded it after setting back to factory defaults.
I can connect to network fine and see other devices on the network , but in network and sharing centre i see a x on broadband ,

have you tried the windows built in repair for the connection you have issues with?

EDIT: You can do this by right clicking the icon for the problematic connection in the system tray and select "Diagnose and Repair"

 

That would be your problem. Ditch Zonealarm. You do not need it with Vista & Windows 7.

 

Well i have now hve internet access on vista .

It seems that it was not Zonealarm which i have used for years , but a patch level on Vista itself .I ran windows update until every patch including optional had updated .
It now seems to have sorted itself out so i would recommend running windows update to death to resolve the problem .

As a matter of interest if anybody could tell me what patch number sorted this problem i would be very grateful for future use ,
