Local Only or Limited Connectivity with Internet on my Laptop

Hi Majorgeeks!

This is my first posting and any help will be appreciated as I am travelling in a couple of days and need my laptop up and running with internet connection.

I have an HP Pavilion DV6000 Entertainment PC Notebook with Window Vista Ultimate. I access the internet by wi-fi through a LinkSys router. It has worked beautifully for the past 3 years.

A few days back, my un-renewed Norton Security gave me a message that there is a Trojan virus in my laptop. In order to clean it, I would have had to renew my Norton Security, so I thought I will do it later and shut off my laptop. However, when I turned on my laptop after this incident, I have been getting 'Local Only' or 'Limited Connectivity' message on my internet connection tool icon, and can't connect to the internet at all.

Is it because of the virus? What can I do to solve this problem without the internet connection? I have internet on my desktop, and can download and run softwares on my laptop through CD or a USB drive. All other programmes are working fine on the laptop - just no internet connection. I even connected the internet cable directly, but no luck. Please help me!

What you need to do is click on the malware forum and complete the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide making sure you follow all the instructions fully then post back into the malware forum with the required logs and a full explanation of how this all started, after posting please be patient as the malware fighers do get really busy, but don't worry they will get round to sorting you out !
