Sorry, but we don't know what version of Windows (If you're using windows) you're using, what service pack you have, what MB, how much RAM, etc to make an intelligent decision.

    More info is needed, please.

    (1) Click the Start button on the lower left corner of your Windows screen.

    (2) And then type the word Picasa in the search bar. The Picasa the actual program icon should come up.

    (3) When it does create a "shortcut" of the icon to your desktop; from the Picasa program icon in the Start Menu.

To do so, right click on it... Go to "Send to" and then click on "Desktop - create shortcut". The new Picasa icon will appear on your desktop.

    (4) Click it, and see if that will start the program.

Important Side Note: Do not COPY the program itself from the Start Menu. Be sure to make a desktop shortcut instead.

    Good Luck -- COMP

Thanks for the help, but "Desktop - create shortcut" even created the "lock" on the new icon

This isn't going anywhere fast. You might want to take a look at the FAQ for this forum. It should get you started in the right direction in respect to getting your question answered:

If you don't have the time or the will to read the FAQ, at least do the following:

First thing, you need to scan your system for malware, especially given the weird nature of your problem. Use the following link to do an online scan right now:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=149856

If you find that you have malware infection then you need to post this in the malware forum, starting here:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=147935

If you're clean, then download the program Speccy to gather stats on your OS, software, and hardware:

    http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html

Once you generate a report. Go to this site to learn how to attach files to your posts:

Then post a more detailed explanation of your problem and attach the Speccy report to the post. Then we'll be cooking with gas.

I think the problem is with Avast Sandbox what ever that is

The most common fix on this seems to be to rebuild the Picasa database.
    https://support.google.com/picasa/answer/11502?hl=en

Follow the recommendation to back up your images even though the risk of loss is very low.

Also, users encountering this is issue also cite antivirus conflicts, what permissions of the folder storing Picasa images is set to, and even if you may be running Picasa in a sandbox.

It's also recommended to make sure you are running the latest version of Picasa and also to make sure you don't have another image program (Irfanview, even the Windows stock image viewer, etc) set as default as that is also know to change the permissions of the Picasa folder to private, thus the lock showing up on it. It also is noted to cause conflicts with Picasa.

See if the Picasa folder is set to share with nobody.

    Bingo :)

See if disabling the sandbox within Avast solves the problem.
