hey everyone! I have a hp pavillion a6554f pc and it keeps locking up. I have run pc tools registry cleanup, nortons registry cleanup, kaspersky virus scanner, nortons anti virus, ad-aware, spy bot, have updated a lot of drivers, and changed the PSU out, but still no luck. any suggestions? Thanks.

    What Operating System?
    How much RAM?
What is on the Startup list?
When was your last GOOD defrag?
Why did you use 2 different Registry cleaners? Most do more harm than help.

Most people here advise against using Registry cleaners. Most people who use them just click on OK without taking the time to see what is being removed, or making a backup in case you need to roll back.
One mistake can be very harmful and frustrating.
Just noticed you listed 2 different AntiVirus programs.
Bad move. One per machine is what is recommended.

the weird thing is that the lock ups sometimes wont happen for weeks at a time and then it just does it randomly.

Download SpeedFan and check your temps.
CPU could be getting hot and throttling back to save itself.
Also might consider cleaning the inside of the case (if desktop) and removing all dust.
Be sure to get between the fins of the cooler and the fan blades.

are all the fans it finds supposed to be spinning? cause one is 0rpms. what temps should i look for?

On my Vista machine, it's Temp 1.(Currently showing 115F or 46C while Folding)
How many fans do you have inside your case? If more than shown on SpeedFan and one isn't spinning or spinning too slowly, it could cause overheating.

i have two fans and a psu fan. i just opened the case and they are all spinning but speed fan has a spot for 1 2 and 3 fans and i and 2 are reading i guess it doesnt count the psu fan as one? i dusted everything real good last week too even the fins. my temp one is reading 38 C btw.

Sorry. I'm out of ideas then.
Certain there are others who will come by and they might have some new ideas.
