Locked Icons

I hope someone can help me with this problem I have, It might be simple for someone but Its just something I have never seen before. some of my Icons on my desktop are locked, it says: This operation has been canceled due to restriction in effect on this computer. Please contact you administrator.

I dont have a clue what in the world I did here but I just cant figure this out, I appreciate any help on this matter.

Are you the Administrator or have admin privileges, and what is the operating system?

 

Iam using Microsoft XP home edition, and no Iam not the admin.

 

Then you will need to contact the Administrator. They have invoked a policy that locks the icons.

 

thats just the thing I asked the admin and he dosent know what he did either

 

You will need Admin privileges to do this. You don't have that.

To answer your last question would be defeating the administrator's purpose in using such, and I'm sure there was a reason for it. If you work for a company, and the IT people did it, then unlocking anything may result in actions upto and including getting fired. That being said and I hope understood, and if you still feel froggish, then there is always Process Explorer and Who Lock Me. Use either or both at your own peril in this.
