As this is a new computer your simplest answer is to use its recovery system which will restore the machine to its 'as bought' state. Do you have a recovery disk, or do you know how to start recovery from a function key? If not post back with the model and someone should be able to assist.

    Hi,

I think PCloginNow should work. You have to download it and burn it to a blank CD. Or it may work from USB flash drive if you want to try that.

Imgburn's "Write Image File to Disc" option will work to burn the ISO file you download to a blank CD.

Then boot up the laptop from the disc.
    Select the OS.
Select the user you want to remove the password. Tick the box for password is empty. Hit Next and that should be it.

    Don't worry, I found this -

'most Acers use ALT-F10 when the machine starts to trigger the beginning of the restore process. If it asks you for a security code, try 000000 (six zeros)'

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

When you do get it going again be sure to create your own recovery disk for future use.

I've been having a peek at the Acer website support and while there doesn't seem to be anything specific to that computer the user guides I have found suggest that alt-F10 will not work, nor will any other function key. You need to be able to get into Windows and run Acer Recovery Management from the Start menu, which isn't very helpful if you can't get to the Start menu.

You may need to use sach2's suggested method.

Write down the password as you reinstall Windows 7!
