    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You have a lot of problems!!!!!

    1. First Download this file - combofix.exe
    2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Attach this log to your next reply along with all the other logs requested.
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • ComboFix
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use three messages to attach all of these logs!

Hi Freddy, you will also have to not only do the Combofix but the rest of the Logs as requested by Chaslang earlier, plus please reply witht he logs to this thread as starting new threads is likely to cause any assistance to be delayed.

    Hi,

Succeeded in getting all the log files requested except bitdefender which is due to system incompatibility. Constantly received a message that bitdefender cannot run on my OS (win2k advanced server)

Let me know if i should attach the other logs or is there a way to walk round downloading bitdefender on my OS?

    Freddy

Yes you must attach all the logs that you have. Please explain what you mean by a system incompatibility with Bitdefender???? At anyrate you need to attach the below logs so that we can continue.

    CounterSpy
AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
Panda Scan - from step 6
    runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    HijackThis

Please find the logs attached and expect the others in my next message. What i meant was that the installation of bitdefender on my operating was aborted, there was an error message stating that bitdefender was not compatible with my operating system. It can only be installed on windows 98, ME, 2k or XP, while my system is win 2k advanced server.

You need to attach a new HijackThis log! Your previous log was from before running the READ ME and is not current and is therefore of no use.

Did you have 5 IE sessions running, and also did you have Word running when you obtained this HJT log??? If so, why?

Did you configue the below yourself?
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm

working from home at the moment and need those files open

  13. chaslang

chaslang MajorGeeks Admin - Master Malware Expert Staff Member

Not while running HJT! As the READ ME specifies, IE and other processes must be closed. Fixes will not work if they are open. If you are doing other work, then do the malware fixing at a different time.

Please answer my other question in message number 11.

You had CounterSpy ignore all the malware it found. Please run it again and this time quarantine or delete all the malware. Attach a new log so I can see the results and then determine what remains to be fixed.

TIP # 1: Are the below files you need? If so, you should not be saving them in your root folder. This is a target folder for malware and all files with names like this will be suspect and typically will be deleted by malware scanning tools!
    Code:
    "C:\"
    361101~2.exe 18 Dec 2006 3072 "3611010322556473915.exe"
    x03132~1.xls 13 Mar 2004 53248 "x03132004193103.xls"
    x03202~1.xls 20 Mar 2004 54784 "x03202004110301.xls"
    x03292~1.xls 29 Mar 2004 54272 "x03292004214324.xls"
    x03302~1.xls 30 Mar 2004 59904 "x03302004055719.xls"
    x04032~1.xls 3 Apr 2004 70144 "x04032004064715.xls"
    x04242~1.xls 24 Apr 2004 60416 "x04242004142028.xls"
    x04242~2.xls 24 Apr 2004 54272 "x04242004144847.xls"
TIP # 2: The below are also suspects for being malware. This is not a folder where you should be storing anything especially exe files. This folder should be used only for installed programs not for the installers or as a storage place for anything else. That is a bad practice!
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\"
    navari~1.jpg 17 Dec 2006 98645 "Navarin_01.jpg"
    navari~2.jpg 17 Dec 2006 165150 "Navarin_02.jpg"
    navari~3.jpg 17 Dec 2006 105195 "Navarin_03.jpg"
    pdf995s.exe 17 Dec 2006 2349720 "pdf995s.exe"
    pdfedit.exe 17 Dec 2006 635544 "pdfedit.exe"
    ps2pdf~1.exe 17 Dec 2006 5274776 "ps2pdf995.exe"
    silip12a.exe 27 Jan 2007 433237 "silip12a.exe"
You need to uninstall Viewpoint Media Player as requested in step 0 of the READ & RUN ME.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Since you did not answer my question about the R0 lines, I will assume you want the about:blank entries! If not, add them to the HJT fix below.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    C:\WINNT\system32\wnsapisu.exe
    C:\13074458.exe

    Now run Ccleaner .
    Now reboot in normal mode

Now locate the below folder and delete it if found:
    C:\Program Files\Zqunh

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

That could be because you never did step 2 of the READ ME properly (I can tell that from your GetRunKey log). Or it could be that they are really already gone. You should be safe and do step 2 properly and then double check to make sure they are still not found using Windows Explorer not Windows Search.

Well you need an antivirus application too. My final instructions will give a link with some tools for you to check out.

We have a couple more things to do!

Okay now uninstall the Sunbelt CounterSpy trial since we are finished with it now! Then delete the below two folders left behind by the uninstall:
    C:\Documents and Settings\DEVadm.MANNA.000\Local Settings\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now attach a new log from GetRunKey!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix you can delete the ComboFix.exe file and associated C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    8. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
