Good day, I do alot of assisting friends and family in PC virus and malware repair. Sometimes to do a visit to there home is driving 40 miles (ouch at $4 a gallon for gas)

I know there is a few programs that will allow me to access there PC from my home or office to repair there units..

Does anyone know a good free user friendly (network) program I can download to assist them?

    Thanks in advance

I downloaded the program and I sign in fine. I had her sign on ipchicken.com to get her ip address and I typed it in "partners ID" I hit connect and it says.. "A connection could not be established" reason unknown..

Does she need to down load teamviewer as well?

if you are going to connect to another computer using teamviewer the other person at the other end needs to download the program and run it which gives the computer id to enter in to partner's id field and the passcode once that is done you will connect to the computer and take control.

    Hope this helps

Sorry, I thought Teamviewer was easy to use, you don't have to find out the IP adrress, you don't have to open router ports, both users just download the porgram, you don't even have to install it, just select run. Then like Sexy said, the other person tells you there ID and password and you can connect to their PC.

Another vote for TeamViewer. But, I'll also mention something else you might like to know. If you and the person you are assisting both use avast! Antivirus, it has a remote assistance feature. I haven't tried it but just thought I'd mention it. If you open avast! and click the Additional Protection button on the left side of the panel, you'll see Remote Assistance there. Looks like it works in a similar way to TeamViewer; the person needing assitance has to provide a code to you before you can connect to their computer.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

And, another spoon with which to stir the pot: many of the higher levels of Windows operating systems offer various flavors of the Remote Desktop Services and/or Terminal Services.
