    I have attached all log files as per instructions. I think my kids installed something while I was not around. Lost firefox access, redirects on IE. Was not able to install programs but was able to work through this problem. Seems to be fixed but then problems start coming back.
    Any help is apprciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    Java(TM) 6 Update 11

    All you need to uninstall the below illegal copy of NOD32
    NOD32 Antivirus System
    NOD32 FiX v2.1

    See our policy on using illegal software here: Warning about Keygens, Cracks, and other Illegal Software

    You will be refused future help if you continue to use illegal software. Use of cracks and keygens is one of the largest single reasons for people coming here with infections. We are too busy to have to keep dealing with things like this.

    Now we need to use ComboFix again.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Now run Ccleaner to clean out only temp files and nothing else!

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hello Chaslang - Thanks for the help!

    I uninstalled Java.
    Ran CFscript.txt with Combofix, the CPU rebooted.
    Ran GetLogs.bat
    I then went online with Firefox and installed new Java, no problems.
    I then went online with Explorer to install Avast. Received message from Nod32 of virus activity - attached as AV-Text.
    I downloaded Avast uninstalled NOD32 installed avast.

    Please find attached
    * ComboFix.txt
    * MGlogs1.zip
    This was before uninstall of nod32. Right after reboot from running combofix. Before receiving error message in explorer or going online.

    * AV-text.txt
    Error received from nod32 while online with explorer.

    * MGlogs.zip
    Ran after installation of Avast (after receiving error message in explorer))

    * avast.zip
    Log files from Avast installation.

    Everything seems to work fine while browsing with firefox, problems start when I switch to explorer. Things start installing and warnings pop from AV- software. have not tried explorer since installation of avast.
    Will attach avast files with another post.

    Forgot to add that I did run CCleaner after reboot from combofix. Unchecked everything except the temp file.

    From now on please complete instructions in the order given. NOD32 should have been uninstall before running ComboFix.

    We don't need them as they provide us no info that we need. Avast did not detect anything.

    Please be more precise when referring to applications. You keep saying explorer and that means Windows Explorer where as IE or iexplore or iexplore.exe or Internet Explorer is what you should say when referring to your browser.

    Please provide more exact info on what happens when you use IE. What starts installing? What popups are you getting? What exactly do they say? Is it a popup from a firewall?

    Your logs are clean but you should do the below.

    I strongly advise you to cleanup your Desktop. Remove eveything but links to run programs. Do not download and save programs here and defintely do not use it for long term storage. You need to keep ComboFix.exe here for now as we need it, but we will be removing it when we are finished with your cleanup. A cluttered Desktop is malware's playground and it can also cause performance degradation especially when you start saving large files here like you are doing.

    Also delete the below file if it still exists.
    c:\windows\Tasks\McAfee.com Scan for Viruses - My Computer (KEVIN-Dad).job
