i used east -tech eraser 2003 and used the option of deleting the delete files i had 15 gb of used space and after run the prog i had ONLY 9 gb of used space on my hd .

1/ now is there a cache in win xp pro that stores all deleted files & docs EVEN though you have an empty recycle bin if there is , is there anyway to disable this

2/ where can i find my interent cache file and is there anyway to disable this and if not how can i clean it :D :D :(

In answer to 2: Go to Internet Explorer/Tools/Internet Options... and under Temporary Internent Files there is a Settings... button which will take you to a means of configuring the Internet Cache.

BERN........It's recommeded by PCpitstop.com, that the I.E.cache size be set to 80MB. Don't know if any other people on this board, have any opinion on that ????? I don't even remember why they suggest that. But when I run computers thru their online testing, that's always one of the recommendations. Brian

That's absolutely HUGE for the cache. I keep mine set at 1Mb and have never had any trouble with it.

If you're on a fast connection, 56k people would want a larger cache for speed.

Deleting IE Cache files will not (in w98 at least) get rid of the index.dat files associated with IE. I use a program called Spider which is free and does the job by identifying them and cleaning the buggers out when you reboot.
