just bought a data cable for my LG7000 cell phone and found a great online tutorial that lets me tweak just about everything on the phone...

basically i want to find an mp3 editing program that will allow me to take small portions of mp3's, rename them to .mid's, and then upload them on my cell phone to use as a ringtone...

    thanks

i tried using Audacity listed off MG's but it's a bit too complex for me

Try WavePad. It's free and can clip an MP3 down to a few seconds for a ringtones. It can also set the tune quality, etc to match what your phone needs. Don't rename them... mid are for midi, a different type of file.

my phone is capable of playing high quality ringtones... the tutorial i'm using as a guide recommands renaming the mp3 files to .mid (the format they're stored on my phone)...
