ImgBurn and JetBee are two I've used and wholeheartedly recommend. ;)

I take it you are trying to make DVD-Video movie discs you can use in a standalone DVD player. Nero Express and Burning Rom will not make a DVD-Video compliant disc. As for the time it takes, the hardware you use has greater impact than the software (in my experience).

What are your PC's specifications? (CPU, memory, etc.)

All of the above are excellent freeware suggestions. ImgBurn is primarily for image burning (duh) so you'd use it for ISO files and BIN files and IMG files and ..... My favorite full featured freeware burning app is AShampoo Studio 2009 as mentioned above. It's free with email registration, and does just about everything Nero Express does. For slightly less features (but still great burning abilities) check out BurnAware. Easy to use and lightweight....
    :cool

(however- I still use Nero 6.6 for most of my burning at home, unless I'm burning images, then it's ImgBurn ALL the time; Nero 6.6 was IMO the last version of Nero with full functionality but was still fast, lightweight and bloat-free; I'll be using v6.6 forever)
